Cursed Men & Pretty Necklaces

Cursed Men & Pretty Necklaces

Book-tok is a unique part of Tik-Tok where users post and discuss various books they are reading. Often these books are romantic in nature and appeal to a mostly feminine audience, but you would be surprised how many blokes read them! If you can think of it, then there is probably a romantic book about it. Some of these characters should stay on the page but others deserve to be brought to life.

The Devil’s Night book series by Penelope Douglas is a particularly dark series centred on a real antihero. Damon Torrance, who is described as dangerous but fiercely protective and loyal to his family should stay on paper as his relationship with Winter’s a red flag. In the book he is pictured as being good looking, tall and broad with dark hair and darker eyes, contrasting with his porcelain skin. Once could picture him in a leather jacket with a vertebrae necklace skulking about his Canadian home town.

Hellcat Jewellery uses sterling silver for our artisan necklaces and bracelets. Stealing Silver is not to be confused with quicksilver, which is another name for mercury. Quicksilver is also the name of the first book in the Fae & Alchemy series. Its female protagonist Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets and falling in love with tall, broad shouldered men. Namely Kingfisher, who gives Saeris a silver chain and pendant on their first meeting after she pulled a magic sword out of a pond.

Ana Huang’s 2025 book King Of Envy, also has a dangerous male lead; this time they are a billionaire. This book draws a lot of its inspiration from the classic Beauty and the Beast. This dangerous male is also described as tall and broad (sensing a pattern here), with icy blue eyes - almost colourless. Maybe his romantic interest Ayana would like a Opal sacred heath necklace to remind her of those stunning pale blue eyes.

Much like Lowen in Verity, I too am struggling to finish writing something before losing my mind. Lowen Ashleigh, is the lead of the 2018 novel Verity by Colleen Hoover. She is also a struggling writer who is offered the chance to finish a book of another author, Verity, sadly injured and incapacitated. Without spoiling too much of the book, Lowen is haunted by a spectre. An Amethyst Necklace optionally with a skull, would have helped to ward off spiritual disturbances or maybe some Labradorite earring to help shield her aura. If you want to read a very funny but spoiler filled review look at Mareeva review on Goodreads.

Misery loves company, and Misery Lark would love a limited edition Coffin Cut Labradorite and Spider Web Necklace. Mrs Lark is at the centre of Bride by Ali Hazelwood, a New York Times bestselling author. It’s got political drama, supernatural chaos, and enough tension to ruin your sleep schedule. To keep the peace; Misery is a Vampyre who marries the Were Alpha, Lowe Moreland. Lowe is also described as having broad shoulders, handsome, with interesting eyes.

Our final character to explore is Manon Blackbeak. From the Throne of Glass series (I'm about to throw a few glasses of wine) written by legendary author Sarah J. Maas. Manon is a ruthless killer and witch, with pale skin, white hair and burnt gold eyes. She would absolutely wear a Citrine pedant necklace to match with her eyes - and warm up her icy personality.

After writing all that one could conclude that BookTok books have a legally binding requirement for broad shouldered men. And whilst Therapy could fix these men, necklaces are quicker and cheaper. (Note: Hellcat Jewellery supports therapy). In the meantime, we’ll continue emotionally attaching ourselves to fictional men with dark pasts and suspiciously nice jawlines. At least when the next morally grey love interest ruins your life, you can look good doing it.
